Moving into my own place for the first time, I knew I wanted to have a living room space that reflected who I was, but also felt comfortable and mature. Furniture and layout-wise, aside from wanting a sectional and a lamp that would provide me enough light to read under, I didn’t really have a solid idea of what I wanted my space to look like.
Before I even had my initial consultation with Alexa, she encouraged me to explore different styles, colours, textures, and layouts on curation websites or in magazines. I was so excited that she asked me to explore what I liked before she started sharing any ideas that she had. Even when she came to my apartment for the initial consultation, she provided me with options for different areas of the room. I truly felt in control of my own space and never felt pressured to say yes to any ideas she had that I wasn’t sure about.
Throughout the entire process from the initial design plan to sourcing furniture, Alexa was extremely conversational and easy to get ahold of, amazing to bounce ideas off of and eager to answer questions, and truly took my perspective to heart.
I now have a space that feels like it’s truly MY living room and not just an exact copy of a picture I’ve seen in a magazine or on Pinterest - it’s a space of warmth and comfort, where I can showcase my interests (space for all of my classic literature!) and more unique pieces (my quirky deer wearing gym socks painting alongside a traditional cross-stitch of poppies in my gallery wall), and with a refined style Alexa and I started to call “baba chic”.

We had a flood in our basement last year and so the already-finished basement was a blank slate once again.
We had explained to Alexa that the old design didn’t really feel like it had our touch on it and we were having difficulty with furniture scale and configuration.
She came back with a functional and beautiful design, we were finally able to see the potential of the space!
